Grand View was founded in 1879. The first census was taken in 1880 and the Carothers name was on it.
My great Grand Father and his family came to Idaho in the 1870’s they first settled in Ketchum where they had a grocery store. They were there for 2 years before moving to karcher Id. Where they freighted out of to silver city. After mining died out they became cattlemen and settled in the Grand View / Oreana area.
There is a story that my Great Grand Father lost all of his money in a poker game and we have never made enough money to leave.
I was raised in Grand View where I attended Grand View Elementary school, Jr. High and High School.
I worked for Aid Irrigation in 1973-74 and west states irrigation for a short time in 1974-75
I married Jackie in 1975. In early 1976 we moved to Emmett for 3.5 years where I built campers and Mobile Homes. In May of 1979 our son Calvin was born in Emmett 2 weeks later I moved to Bruneau Id where I worked on a cattle Ranch. Jackie and Calvin followed me in June. This is where I first became acquainted with Agri-Lines. We hired them to install an irrigation system that included 14 wheel lines. I still hate Wheel lines today.
The Ranch sold in Dec. and I moved back to grand View in January. I camped out at Agri-Lines until they hired me on January 27 1979.
I have owed Cattle, construction equipment and horses. But the only thing that has been a real success is Agri-lines.
We enjoy our community and our Owyhee Mountains. Where we have a small cabin and spend as much time as possible with our 4 Grand kids. Site seeing, hunting, fishing and just being together.
